July 16 is the deadline for registering for the 13th Annual Kmart Shoreline Fishing Tournament.
Fishing starts from noon July 16 and continues until the weigh-in starts July 18 at 10 a.m.
More than $5,000 in cash and prizes are in the pot for this year’s tournament due to the sponsorship of both Kmart and Maurice Sporting Goods.
“Last year’s tournament was really good,” said Sandy Higa, the Kmart coordinator who started the tournament 12 years ago. “We had enough prizes so all the keiki ended up with at least a goodie bag, and all the adults got an event T-shirt. We even had enough so almost all the keiki, regardless of the size of their catch, could get at least a Kmart cash card.”
Application forms and the tournament rules and regulations are available at the store’s customer service desk.
Registration is $30 for adults and $5 for young anglers 17 years old and younger.
All fish caught during the fishing period from noon July 16 to 10 a.m. July 18 must be brought to the weigh-in from 10 a.m. to noon to be considered for eligibility toward prizes.
