This one-act musical travels back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with an action-packed stage adaptation of the Disney film. The Huns have invaded and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the emperor. “Mulan Jr.” is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The score includes favorites like “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” as well as new songs that will have the audience on its feet. Kukui Grove KSA gallery
“Byte Me III” is the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ annual digital-art show open to all adult resident artists. Digital art, for the purpose of this exhibition, is defined as artwork that has been entirely or partially created using digital technology. The show opens July 17 with an artists’ reception and presentation at 5:30 p.m. by juror David Goldberg.
Monday Goldberg will present a public lecture. He has been professionally programming and working with new media in technical, artistic and educational contexts since 1993. He and international artist and curator Julio Morales were commissioned by the San Diego Children’s Museum to develop “Zebra Crossing,” an interactive video installation that allows children to modify dynamic images based on the manipulation of digital turntables.
Artists may submit up to three entries with at least one entry being accepted. The show is open to both members and non-members. Entry fee for members is $7 per piece, and $12 for non-members. For more information call Carol Ann Davis, 639-1936.

The line-up of entertainers includes: actor Al Harrington, who performed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki; Paul Togioka, who received awards for best recording by a slack-key artist and best Hawaiian instrumental recording from the Hawai‘i Music Awards; dancer Kelsie Lima; Thayne and Lynn Taylor performing original composition from their recently-released CD “Watercolor Dreams;” musician Mark James; Pink Pebbles Crew, among others.

Oceanside Productions announces the return of TCHOA(A), directed by Cass Foster, an internationally-acclaimed director and author. The show stars local professional actors Ross Martineau, Jeff Demma and Nellie Foster, and is rated PG. This 90-minute comedy features three actors who continuously change characters and costumes as they run riot over 500 years of American history, where no public figure escapes unscathed. The writing is witty, the action is fast-paced. Tickets can be purchased at OPtheater.com where preferred seating and exclusive kama‘aina rates are available. After a successful, three-month Eastside run, Oceanside Productions’ move to the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort will add a three-course meal dining package to the comedy-theater, with table-side service at 5:30 p.m.
