Otto ‘Bud’ Powers
Otto Carroll “Bud” Powers of Kapa‘a died June 27, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on April 9, 1917, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a captain in the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Powers, son Bill Powers, numerous friends and ‘ohana.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 17, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
Leonora Kouchi
Leonora F. Kouchi of Makaweli died June 30, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at age 78. Born on Feb. 11, 1932, in Koloa, she was a clerk with the State of Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hideo Kouchi.
She is survived by her daughters Anita Kouchi of Kona and Hedy Kouchi of Honolulu; one grandson; sister Katherine Fraticelli; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 8, at Sacred Hearts Church in Waimea.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Zinia Amorin
Zinia Jimenez Amorin of Lihu‘e died June 24, 2010, at her home at the age of 70. Born on March 3, 1940, in Lihu‘e, she retired from the Department of Transportation Airport Division as a Janitor supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; parents Juan Jimenez and Lillian Victorino; brothers Gilbert Jimenez and Joseph Alegria; sisters Betty Moreno and Elizabeth Carmichal.
She is survived by her brothers Juan “Slugger” Jimenez of Modesto, Calif., Basilio Alegria of Honolulu and Richard Alegria of Mexico; sister Harriet Dumlao of San Jose, Calif.; caregiver Dana Gonsalves; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Viewing at 8 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 8, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Lorraine Lizama
Lorraine “Vovo” Bettencourt Lizama of Kapa‘a died June 26, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 90. Born on Nov. 30, 1919, in Kapa‘a, she was a retail clerk for Big Save at Coco Palms Resort.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Helena Bettencourt; husband Benjamin Lizama; sisters Eleanor Bettencourt and Elsie Victorino; and brother Manuel Bettencourt.
She is survived by her sons Ben (Barbara) Lizama Jr., Patrick (Rhonda) Lizama, Michael (Marianne) Lizama, brothers George (Rosalie) Bettencourt, Albert (Helen) Bettencourt, Harold (Betty) Bettencourt and William (Gloria) Bettencourt; sisters Carey (John) Vilela and Marjorie (Enoch) Brown; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation from 7:45 to 10:45 a.m., divine mercy rosary from 8:45 to 9 a.m.; Mass at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 9, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a.
Aloha attire is suggested. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the memorial fund for Lorraine Lizama.
