After taking its opening game, Friday, Ikaika picked up its second win, a 37-8 showing over Westside Basketball led by Matsuzaki and A.J. Pfund scoring 10 and eight points, respectively.
Mark Abalos and Darrin Sagucio led the Westside effort with four points apiece in the exhibition series coordinated by the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association.
Kala Kauhane and Koa Baclayon finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively to lead Hanakila “B” to a 65-27 win over Ikaika Basketball, the visiting team’s first loss in three games.
Hattal finished with 10 points to lead the Ikaika effort followed by Jake Suyemoto ending with five points.
Christian Hudson finished with 13 points and Lindsey Brandenburg added a dozen to lead the Bull Horns to a 2-point margin over the Westside Pride which got a game-high 20 points from Reynante Villanueva and nine points from Gerard Bucao in the Men 18 and Over match.
Violet Martin ended with 10 points with Shai Anne Abigania and Janessa Calvan each adding eight points to lead the Kaua‘i Ballers to a 34-12 win over Kaulupono, in one of two Girls 12 and Under games played Friday night.
Jasmine Santella topped the Kaulupono effort with six points before the Waimea team adjourned to the kitchen to prepare for its food booth at the Pacific Missile Range Facility July 4th celebration as well as prepare to feed the visiting Ikaika Basketball team.
Motu Taumalolo ended with eight points to lead Lihu‘e to an 18-12 edge over the Kamikaze who got six points from Ashley Lucas and four points from Chyna Hanano.
Rachel Taira came up with the 5-point margin in overtime to lead .U..NCH. to a 49-44 overtime win in the Women’s 18 and Over match against the Kaua‘i Ballers, Friday night.
Kia Barba, the guard handling the opposite side of Taira, added 11 points in the win.
Kira Nakamura and Leinaala McCabe topped the Ballers scoring with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Playoffs for the Boys 14 and Under start Tuesday with two games scheduled starting at 6 p.m. at the kapa‘a High School gym.
Following that pair of games, the Kilauea Hui hosts Kalaheo in a Women’s 18 and Over match starting at 8 p.m.
Three Boys 12 and Under games are also scheduled for the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when Papalina hosts Team Central starting at 6 p.m. followed by Hanakila taking on Lihu‘e at 7 p.m. Westside Basketball will host the Kaua‘i Ballers starting at 8 p.m.
