Zinia Amorin
Zinia Jimenez Amorin of Lihu‘e died June 24, 2010, at her home at age 70. Born on March 3, 1940, in Lihu‘e, she retired from the Department of Transportation Airport Division as a janitor supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; parents Juan Jimenez and Lillian Victorino; brothers Gilbert Jimenez and Joseph Alegria; sisters Betty Moreno and Elizabeth Carmichal.
She is survived by her brothers Juan “Slugger” Jimenez of Modesto, Calif., Basilio Alegria of Honolulu and Richard Alegria of Mexico; sister Harriet Dumlao of San Jose, Calif.; caregiver Dana Gonsalves; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Viewing at 8 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 8, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Chiyo Akimoto
Chiyo Akimoto of Koloa died June 25, 2010, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at age 101. Born on Nov. 26, 1908, in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i, she was a seamstress.
She is survived by her sons Wallace, Paul and Alvin (Maizie) Akimoto; daughters Alice (Sadashi “Sam”) Isoda, Bernice (Harry) Kondo and Violet Onishi; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at 3 p.m., service at 4 p.m., on Thursday, July 8, at Koloa Jodo Mission.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Junichi Kano
Junichi Kano of Hanapepe died June 20, 2010, at his home at age 91. Born on June 24, 1918, in Hanapepe, he was a retired shipping clerk with McCabe, Hamilton and Renny.
He is survived by his wife Harriet Kano of Hanapepe; son Richard (Jan) Kano of Claremont, Calif.; daughters Irene J. Muraoka (Nelson) of Hanapepe and Patsy Kano of Redmond, Wash.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were private. Family requests that no koden be sent.

Rosemary Peters
Rosemary Kuuleikiele Kruse Peters of Kekaha died June 26, 2010. Born on Feb. 16, 1942, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a manager at Koke‘e Lodge and an accounts technician at PMRF/MWR.
She was preceded in death by her father George Kruse Sr., and niece Lokelani Kruse.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Peters Jr.; daughter Sarah of Hanapepe; Su Yen of Hanapepe; sons Raymond “Alani” (Susan) III of Kekaha, and Kirkjon (Cheryl) of ‘Oma‘o; grandchildren Ikaika Jon and Megan Kahealani; great-grandson Ryden; mother Martha (Sialana) Kruse of Kekaha; siblings Kalani (Judy) Kruse of Arizona, Berna Leaf of California, Teddie (Clayton) Dela Cruz of Waimea, Joe Kruse of O‘ahu, Tony (Esmeralda) Kruse of Texas; Peter (Wendy) Kruse of ‘Ele‘ele; Ann (Steven) Duarte of Waimea and Malia (David) Fu of Kekaha; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Mass to follow, on Friday, July 2, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that wreaths be omitted.

Jackie Cachero
Jackie Jacalyn Cachero of ‘Ele‘ele died May 10, 2010, at Queen’s Medical Center at age 43. Born on Dec. 22, 1966, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a human resource director for Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative.
She was preceded in death by her father Manuel Cachero.
She is survived by her mother Francisca (Caabay) Cachero of ‘Ele‘ele; daughter Chelsea Sakaguchi of Cheney, Wash.; siblings John Cachero of Windsor, Colo., Marilyn Soliz of Portland, Ore., Virginia O’Neill of Carson City, Nev., Hermi Hunt of Honolulu, Lydia Bianchi of Kona, Susan Sakai of Honolulu and Janet Cachero of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Hanalei-West Canoe Club will do spreading of ashes at sea.

Thomas Osakoda
Thomas Fudeo Osakoda of Wailuku, Maui, died June 3, 2010, in Erie, Kan., at age 70. Born on April 16, 1940, in Paia, Maui, he was the owner and operator of Valley Isle Transportation Inc., and was the former owner of Akiko’s Taxi on Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Tsutomu and Maxine Osakoda, and his son Robert Osakoda.
He is survived by his wife Susan Osakoda; sons Richard (Lydia) Osakoda, Randall Osakoda and Ray (Leah) Ho, all of Kaua‘i; daughters Lynette Osakoda-Cline of Montana, Mika (Brandon) Joiner of Maui, Yuko Osakoda of Maui, Lorraine Osakoda of Ohio, and Tori Watanabe of Kaua‘i; brother Walter (Dorothy) Osakoda of Honolulu; sister Florence Taogoshi of Honolulu; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 10, at Grace Bible Church in Kahului, Maui.

Patrick Yadao Belmonte of Kilauea died June 23, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 47. Born on Nov. 25, 1962, in Lihu‘e, he was an auto detailer.
He is survived by his parents Esmenia and Isidro Belmonte Sr.; wife Crystal Rain Belmonte; daughters Makenna Belmonte and Haley Belmonte; brothers Isidro Belmonte Jr., Andrew Belmonte and Eric (Crystal) Belmonte; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lorraine “Vovo” Bettencourt Lizama of Kapa‘a died June 26, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 90. Born on Nov. 30, 1919, in Kapa‘a, she was a retail clerk for Big Save at Coco Palms Resort.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Helena Bettencourt; husband Benjamin Lizama; sisters Eleanor Bettencourt and Elsie Victorino; and brother Manuel Bettencourt.
She is survived by her sons Ben (Barbara) Lizama Jr., Patrick (Rhonda) Lizama, Michael (Marianne) Lizama, brothers George (Rosalie) Bettencourt, Albert (Helen) Bettencourt, Harold (Betty) Bettencourt and William (Gloria) Bettencourt; sisters Carey (John) Vilela and Marjorie (Enoch) Brown; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation from 7:45 to 10:45 a.m., divine mercy rosary from 8:45 to 9 a.m.; Mass at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 9, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a.
