LIHU‘E — From Monday through Thursday of next week, one lane of Maluhia Road (Tree Tunnel) will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., to facilitate a cleanup, states a county press release.
The partial closure will allow a county Department of Public Works crew to do road maintenance and tree-trimming along the roadway.
While the work is being done, a flag man will be directing traffic along the roadway.
On July 10 from 8 a.m. to noon, a community cleanup organized by the Po‘ipu Beach Resort Association is scheduled for Maluhia Road, in preparation for the Koloa Plantation Days celebration (watch for an upcoming special section on the event in The Garden Island).
During the July 10 community cleanup, Maluhia Road will be completely closed.
Motorists heading to or from the South Shore during the July 10 road closure are advised to use ‘Oma‘o or Koloa roads, and those heading to or from the South Shore next week should allow additional time for transit with the one-lane-road situation.
The county and PBRA thank the public for their understanding and cooperation, the release states.
