Jesse Kealoha picked up two top honors in his ‘92 Nissan 300Z/565 Reher Morrison at the June 5th drag races at the Mana Raceway Park.
Kealoha jumped off the line on a 0.216 light to run an 8.25 ET on an 8.13 dial-in reaching 164.31 mph to beat out Jimmy Tammy, who broke out in the Bernie Montemayor Memorial Top Eliminator Challenge.
Kealoha also topped the Top Gun division when runner up Bill Turk, driving a 1972 Chevy Vega GT, did not finish. But that break worked in Kealoha’s favor as he red lighted.
Tamme, who finished in the runner-up slot of the Bernie Monetmayor Memorial Top Eliminator Challenge piloted a 2005 Ford Explorer/V6 and in the race against Kealoha, sped off the line on a 0.283 light to run a 16.96 break out over his 17.02 dial-in ET, reaching 78.91 mph.
Tamme came back from that runner-up spot to take the Street class on a 0.192 light to run a 19.41 ET on a 17.02 dial-in at 56.35 mph when his opponent, Matt Torry in a 2006 Dodge Charger RT/5.7L, red lighted by 0.001. During the climb in the Street class, Tamme notched Closest to Dial-in honors, making one run on a 17.020 ET to his 17.02 dial-in.
Turk, the runner-up to Kealoha in the Top Gun class, finished with the lowest reaction time of the night at .007 in the Top Gun class.
Walt Barnes notched a win in the Super Street class in his 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500/5.4L stock when he left the line on a 0.038 light to run a 14.30 ET on a 12.20 dial-in to hit 80.58 mph over Bryson Fontanilla, who red lighted by a scant 0.01 in his 1989 Nissan 240SX.
Nani Maka continued to pick up wins in the Bike class, driving her 1990 Kawasaki Ninga/750 on a 0.239 light to run an 11.59 ET on an 11.18 dial-in and reaching 115.84 mph to top Matt Kaleiohi on his 2003 Suzuki GSXR/750/1330cc who red lighted by another close margin, this time 0.074.
Chris Loew powered his 1969 Chevy Chevelle/502 to a 6.5-foot advantage in the Pro ET class, leaving on a 0.101 light to run a 10.92 ET over a 10.79 dial-in and reaching 115.78 mph. That put him ahead of Randy Lawrence who piloted a 1970 Chevy Vega Wagon/406 on a 0.207 light to run a 10.06 ET on a 10.00 dial-in and reaching 129.27 mph for the runner-up spot.
Kalei Groves went on to top the Junior Dragster class with her final run on a 0.098 light to run an 8.61 ET on her 8.58 dial-in. Runner up, Gabby Buist, red lighted by 0.033.
Dennis Stoner rounded out the class winners by taking the BuyBack class in his 2004 Mercedes CL600/490 hp V12 Twin Turbo, leaving the line on a 0.426 light to run a 12.74 ET on a 12.70 dial-in and reaching 109.07 mph over Gerald Abiley in his 1966 Chevy Nova who left on a 0.036 light to run a 10.30 break out on his 10.35 dial-in. He reached 125.67 mph.
Kerrilyn Villa of the Garden Isle Racing Association said plans are underway to host the 1st Annual Rudy Ramos Independence Day Races during the July 4th weekend.
Gates will open July 3 for two days of racing, everything wrapping up on July 4.
