Congratulations to Paula O’Very-Saylor, Rodney Pascua and all of the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a members on a great 22nd annual Taste of Hawai‘i event!
Seems like we’re due for a bunch of new eating places… Sandy Poehnelt of The Right Slice has hints of a retail bakery coming soon (for now, it’s the Hanapepe Art Night or the Kaua‘i Community Market at KCC); Zach Sato is promoting the Oasis on the Beach at the next Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce AfterHours (2nd quarterly meeting before that at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort); Russ Talvi (he always seems to come up with some excitement at the Taste) and Aaron Leikam had signs for 22 North opening on July 5; and Roy Yamaguchi is doing something at The Tavern at Princeville.
But it was not all about food as Stephanie Read was promoting the premier membership package for the St. Regis at Princeville. Registration to this “aficionado inner circle” is free and entitles members to discounts and other specials. She even let one young Taste patron rest on the couch because of the cast on her leg so they could enjoy Chef Carlos Jorge’s lamb chops.
Freckles and Mokihana Smith were able to continue running the fern grotto tours too. It all worked!
