LIHU‘E — A water outage is scheduled in Kapa‘a from 9 p.m. today to 4 a.m. June 3, states a county press release.
The outage is necessary to allow the county Department of Water’s contractor to connect newly-installed water lines to the existing water system in the Kapa‘a area.
Residents along the following roads will be affected: all of Akoa and Alenae streets; Souza Place; and Malu, Apopo, Sadoyama, Yamanoha, Steven, Aliali and Kahi roads; Olohena from the roundabout to Ka‘apuni; Ka‘apuni from Olohena to the new water tank; and Kaehulua from Olohena to just beyond Apopo.
See www.kauaiwater.org for a detailed map of all the affected streets.
Residents on the affected roads should prepare for the outage by storing enough water to meet their needs for the evening.
Residents are also asked to notify their families, friends and neighbors who may be affected of the outage, the release states.
The Department of Water apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks affected residents for their patience and cooperation in preparing for the water outage, as work on improvements continue.
Motorists are asked to exercise caution when driving through the affected area as well.
Earthworks Pacific, a contractor for the Department of Water, will be completing the tie-in of the newly-installed water lines.
The improvements in the Kapa‘a area are part of Water Plan 2020, a comprehensive, long-range planning effort to ensure that safe, affordable and sufficient drinking water is provided to Kaua’i residents over the next two decades.
Affected customers who have listed phone numbers will be contacted today by the county’s Blackboard Connect CTY phone-notification service. See the county website, www.kauai.gov, to sign up for Connect CTY.
