LIHU‘E — A second scheduled water outage is planned June 2, from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. June 3, for various portions of Kapa‘a, a county press release states.
The outage is necessary for the county Department of Water to connect newly-installed water lines to the existing water system.
Residents on the following roads will be affected: all of Akoa and Alenae streets; Souza Place; Malu; Apopo; Sadoyama; Yamanoha; Steven; Aliali; and Kahi; and Olohena from the roundabout to Ka‘apuni; Ka‘apuni from Olohena to the new water tank; and Kaehulua from Olohena to just beyond Apopo.

Residents in the area should prepare for the outage by storing enough water to meet needs for those hours, the release states.
Residents are also asked to notify their family, friends and neighbors that may be affected of the outage.
The improvements in the Kapa‘a area are part of Water Plan 2020, a comprehensive, long-range planning effort to ensure safe, affordable and sufficient drinking water is provided to Kaua‘i residents over the next two decades.
Earthworks Pacific, DOW contractors, will be completing the tie-in of the newly-installed water lines.
Motorists are asked to exercise caution when driving through the affected area.
The DOW in the release apologized for the inconvenience and thanked affected residents for their patience and cooperation.Affected customers who have listed phone numbers should have been contacted by the county’s Blackboard Connect CTY phone notification service.
