HANAMA‘ULU — After a nearly four-hour standoff with Kaua‘i police, the county spokesperson says a 50-year-old man was found dead in his Hanama‘ulu home this afternoon.
Dispatch received a call at 11:06 a.m. from the man, who said he had a firearm and wanted police to stay away from his home.
A crisis negotiator, SWAT team and mobile incident command unit were at the scene of the man’s house at 4285 Kailewa Street.
At around 2:58 p.m., police entered the home and discovered the body.
Nearby residents were advised to stay secure in their homes.
The perimeter was controlled, but traffic was still reportedly able to pass through the area.
