LIHU‘E — A moped rider sustained serious injuries when he was struck Saturday night by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident in Kapa‘a, a county news release states.
His current condition is not known.
The moped rider was heading west on Olohena Road approaching the intersection of Olohena and Lehua roads at around 8:52 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound silver car that was making a left turn onto Lehua Road from Olohena Road.
The driver of the silver car left the scene of the crash.
The moped rider was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
According to police, the silver vehicle involved in Saturday night’s crash likely has scratches and scrapes on the driver side and possibly some yellow paint that transferred from the moped.
In addition, the car might also have a broken driver side rear view mirror and a broken or cracked driver side front turn signal cover and headlight.
