Agnes Hoffman
Agnes Hoffman of Lihu‘e died at Garden Isle Health Care on May 11, 2010, at age 94. Born on Sept. 23, 1915, in Wisconsin, she retired as a chef with William Paterson University in New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, and son Gerald.
She is survived by her sons Henry (Sharon) Hoffman of New Jersey, Bob (Mary) Hoffman of New York, Ken Hoffman of Kapa‘a and Al (Jane) Hoffman of Kapa‘a; sister Ann Kereki of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Walter Honjo
Walter Masaru Honjo of Kalaheo died April 19, 2010, at his home at age 81. Born on Sept. 16, 1928, in Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, he was a retired accounting investigator with the State of Hawai‘i.
He was preceded in death by his parents Iwakichi and Mitsuyo Honjo.
He is survived by his wife Magdalina “Maggie” Honjo of Kalaheo; sons Roy Honjo of Honolulu, Randall Honjo and Roger Honjo both of Kalaheo; daughters Renette (Gary) Gaspar of Kalaheo, Allison Pettersson of Honolulu and Beverlylynn (David) Saunders of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Henry (Elizabeth) Honjo of Kalaheo; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing at 4 p.m., service at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 18, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed. Interment at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Gregory Yurcisin
Gregory Yurcisin of Roebling, N.J., died Jan. 29, 2010, in Philadelphia, Pa., at age 52. He was a former chef at Mixed Plate, Hanalei; Koele Lodge, Lana‘i; Halekulani, O‘ahu; and Disney’s Grand Floridian.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his brother Basil and sister Mary Ann.
Les Navales
Les Navales of Gardena, Calif., died April 15, 2010, in Gardena, Calif., at age 49. Born on Sept. 27, 1960, in Lihu‘e, he was a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by Connie Maglasang; stepfather Eddie Maglasang; Michael and Joan Navales, Wendall (Pope) Navales, Charlene and Chris Gammerino, Lori (LaFrance) Navales; hanai brother Larry (Brandy) Hanson; stepbrothers and stepsisters Monica, Liz, Anson and Baylen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service at 11 a.m., on May 22, at Po‘ipu Beach Park.
Casual attire is suggested.
