LIHU‘E — Waimea High School softball, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions for 2010, drew a bye on opening day as the No. 2 seed.
The Menehune will be joined at the Datahouse Softball State Championships, Division II, by the KIF runner-up Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders who will open its bid for the Division II crown, Tuesday against Molokai starting at 5 p.m. at the Central O‘ahu Regional Park.
If successful against the Molokai Farmers, the Kaua‘i Red Raiders advance to face top-seeded Kalani in the quarterfinals, Wednesday, also at the CORP.
Waimea, drawing the No. 2 seed in Division II, will open against the winner of Tuesday’s Kalaheo/Kamehameha Schools-Big Island matchup.
No. 3 seed in Division II went to Hana who will face the winner of the Waialua/Kohala games. No. 4 seed went to Konawaena.
The Mililani Trojans drew the top seed in Division I followed by the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls as No. 2. Waiakea is the No. 3 seed and Baldwin was awarded the No. 4 seed.
Championship game for the Division II will be played Friday starting at 5 p.m. followed by the Division I championship at 7 p.m. at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
