The Waimea High School baseball team was awarded the No. 3 see in the Wally Yonamine Foundation Baseball State Championships, Division II, Thursday through Saturday, at the Hans L’Orange Field in Waipahu, O‘ahu.
Waimea, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, will open play Thursday starting at 11:30 a.m. against Waipahu.
If successful in that outing, Waimea will advance to the semifinals against the winner of the No. 2 seed St. Anthony and Konawaena match, playing Thursday starting at 2 p.m. The semifinal of the Division II game will take place at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The Radford Rams get the No. 1 seed in Division II, opening against Hawai‘i Prep, Thursday starting at 7 p.m. Maryknoll gets the No. 4 seed in the division, opening against Kamehameha Schools-Big Island, Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m.
Hawai‘i Prep defeated the Kaimuki Bulldogs for the play-in to fill the final berth of the Division II.
