KAPA‘A — Ian Khan burned the twine with a game-high 27 points to lead the Batty Boys to a 48-38 margin over Manny’s Sports at the Bernice Hundley Gym, Saturday.
Nouveau Naumu stepped up with 19 points, including five three-balls, to set the pace for the Kalaheo Stars who downed Tropang-L, 62-46 in the second match of the double-header in Kapa‘a at the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball League’s 18 and Over men’s basketball.
Following Khan, the Batty Boys got eight marks from Clareson Torres, six second-half points from James Sagucio, four points from David Medeiros, the team player-captain, and a three-ball in the third frame from C.J. Riopta.
Kekoa Prem paced Manny’s Sports with 14 points followed by Bronson Bautista adding eight points, Matt Lindsey contributing seven marks, Spam Lindsey finishing with five points, Manolito Pescador adding four marks and a pair from Kalima Leong rounding out the effort.
The Kalaheo scoring leaders were all separated by a pair paced by Naumu. Tab Matsumoto finished with 17 points, including a pair of treys, and Olin Claussen added 15 points. Braxton Garma finished with 10 points and a digit from Dayton Bayot rounded out the Stars’ win.
Jaymark Seripio paced Tropang with 13 points followed by Ian Nerida adding 10 points. James Badua finished with eight points followed by Jr. Punzalan adding seven marks. Sammy Perpose and Reggie Punzalan each finished with four points to round out the effort.
The Batty Boys finish the week in the lead with a 6-1 standing with one more game remaining. The Kalaheo Stars are 5-23 followed by Manny’s Sports (3-4) and Tropang-L (0-7).
The final season game will be played Wednesday night at the Kaua‘i High School gym followed by the league playoffs and finals.
