KOKE‘E — A female hiker was airlifted from Koke‘e Friday afternoon after injuring her right ankle while hiking the Nualolo Trail.
She was taken to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital for treatment, a county news release states.
The 23-year-old ‘Ele‘ele woman had been hiking with three other women and was near the end of the 3.75-mile trail when the incident occurred.
One of the women hiked out and called 911, while the others stayed behind with the injured hiker.
Three rescue specialists from the Lihu‘e fire station and Air-1 responded.
The crew picked up the injured hiker and brought her to Waimea Canyon School Park, where awaiting medics then transported her to KVMH.
