Jocelyn Barriga, the Kaua‘i Area coordinator for Special Olympics Hawai‘i, spent the first birthday of her twins working with the track and field events for Kaua‘i’s Special Olympic athletes Saturday.
Shelly Gerardo (she was at the Gourmet Spring Gala Friday) said the annual Cop on Top fundraiser for Special Olympics is changing to the end of April atop the Safeway Store in Waipouli.
Shelly said even if Jocelyn had to spend her children’s birthday with the Special Olympians, she’ll have the birthday party next week.
Hats off to Missy Peck, whose sister is a Special Olympics athlete, for talking to “fans in the stands” who are an integral part of a nationwide effort to “spread the word to end the word,” Peck said.
Doug Sears, who has been helping with the Special Olympics from the time he became manager at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa, said Doug Jr. is contemplating choices for next week since he wants to participate in the county’s age group track meet, but there is a Junior Golf tournament that same weekend. What will it be?
OK, ‘nuff said…time to check out the invasive species at ‘Ele‘ele School…it’s Earth Day week!
