Margaret Gaebler
Margaret Keikelani Duarte Gaebler of Fort Collins, Colo., died Feb. 1, 2010, at Spring Creek Health Care Center at age 80. She was born on March 28, 1929, on Kaua‘i.
She was preceded in death by her parents Antone and Margaret (Vasconcelles) Duarte; brothers William (Mary) and Frank Duarte; sister Helen Duarte Moura; and son Robert (Lisa) Soares.
She is survived by her children Clifford (Anelyn) Soares, Calvin (Leona) Soares of Kalaheo, Clement (Patti) Soares, Jared (Wanda) Soares of Fort Collins and Carmel (Scott) Martin of Tampa, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A private burial will be held in San Diego, Calif. A celebration of life will be scheduled in Fort Collins, Colo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lion’s Club or the Larimer County Humane Society.
Arrangements are being handled by Allnutt Funeral Service/Drake Chapel.
Joyce Tashima
Joyce Okumura Tashima of Lihu‘e died April 4, 2010, at age 94. Born on Sept. 29, 1915, in Koloa, she was a retired teacher from Wilcox Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Tashima, and son Ralph Tashima.
She is survived by daughter Eloise Lau; daughter-in-law Sandra Tashima; grandchildren Angie Tashima, Kelli Tashima, Kimberly Lau and Jimmy Lau.
Private services to be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Lloyd Hamamura
Lloyd “Hama” Harumi Hamamura of Koloa died April 5, 2010, at Straub Hospital at age 64. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired mechanic for the County of Kaua‘i Department of Water, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife Estelle “Miki”; son Jaxon; daughters Janel (Ross) Ruiz and Jolene; hanai daughter Nani (Springy) Kaulili; brother Earl; sisters Kathleen Hee and Lenora (Reggie) Shin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunties and uncles.
Visitation at 10 a.m., memorial service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 24, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
