Kaua‘i Sings! returns to the Hukilau Lanai in Kapa‘a on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Twelve of Kaua‘i’s greatest and most spectacular singers will present the golden age of the Great American Songbook featuring the biggest hits of the 30s. The program harkens back to the days of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and their contemporaries with such favorites as “Night and Day,” “I got rhythm,” “Somewhere over the rainbow,” “Georgia on my mind” and twenty more.
Kaua‘i’s legendary Arnold Meister, emcee for the event, says, “this may be the best Kaua‘i Sings! ever. The 1930s were truly the beginning of what became that golden age bringing us our first taste of the great American songbook. The emotion and creativity that the great depression inspired and launched was simply unmatched for nearly twenty years.”
This Kaua‘i Sings! is a benefit fundraiser for Malama Pono. Over the last four years the series has raised nearly $100,000 for local agencies.
Tickets are only $20 advance and $25 at the door. A limited number of tables for ten are still available for $200. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. A no-host bar as well as pupus for purchase are available.
Tickets only from Malama Pono at 246-9577.
