Kaua‘i’s Kelli Oride led the field of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation golfers with the season’s best score, a two-under par 70, Saturday.
Due to an error in the scoresheets submitted, the girls scores were incorrect, but the Kaua‘i girls still ended the day clinching the KIF girls title with a 231 over Waimea’s 314.
With her season-best score, Oride averages just a half stroke over par over four matches at 72.5.
Taylor Viquelia finished the round at 78 for an 86 average over four weeks, and Daezsa Tomas ended with an 83, her personal best score of the season, to round out the Kaua‘i girls’ scoring. Tomas holds an 86 average over four weeks.
Mariah Paiste outshot Melissa Kagawa by six strokes, carding her season’s best score of 91 to lead the Waimea girls’ scoring. Kagawa finished with a 97, her season-best score, and Quincee Parongao also ended up with her best score, a 126.
With those results, Kagawa holds a 98.67 average over three matches, being overtaken by Paiste who holds a 97.50 average over four matches. Parongao is in the third spot with a 133.67 average over three rounds.
Gail Oride, Kelli’s mother, said this Saturday should be really interesting because, in addition to Pono Tokioka not participating for the Kaua‘i boys, Kelli will also not golf.
The KIF round plays at the Kaua‘i Lagoons course starting at noon.
