Natasha Abadilla will be having a cake contest in conjunction with the American Cancer Society (she said they have this thing for birthday cakes…more birthdays mean living longer) with the judging at the St. Theresa’s Carnival (go early for best parking!).
Natasha was competing at the first KIF qualifying track meet, Friday night, and Marlo Louis-Medeiros almost missed watching daughter Kawehi break a KIF record.
Kudos to Michael Koerte and his Menehune softball crew for hosting a great softball invitational. Mahalo to Nicole Farr for getting in timely updates on each day’s progress.
Michael said they sold out of goteborg (economic impact, Mayor Bernard!) each day. The Joe Grace hamburger (granddaughter Tauina Tafiti plays a mean first base) was going for three days straight with more than 200 pounds of his special mix, Michael said. And, how many gallons for gravy for the hamburger steak plate?
Coaches Albert Soto and Pat Baniaga had their senatorial seats under the poinciana tree so the quick tent didn’t have to go up that early. Somehow, even if the tournament is not played at Thanksgiving, it hasn’t lost its flavor.
