The Rotary Club of Po‘ipu also supports the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts program by providing scholarships, one of the recipients, Shannon Tomacder working with hand-made mozzarella cheese.
Wanda Shibata of the KCC Foundation said the students even made home-made marshmallows and John Lagazo was using one of the hand torches to singe the creation.
Also in the audience, James Priest said he just completed the second volume of the Kirin audio book. He said people can view the trailer and download episodes for free by visiting www.kirinbooks.com. It’s free!
Liana Soong of the Kaua‘i Divas said husband Michael Soong was taking the glory for cooking the pig for the Punahou baseball team. She said she taught him how to cook, and in return, he worked on building her race car which was supposed to race Feb. 27 — until the tsunami threat spoiled everything.
