LIHU‘E — Cheyanne Tannery grabbed first place in the Keiki Barrels during the Waimea Town Rodeo, Feb. 20 as part of the Waimea Town Celebration.
The rodeo, hosted by The Kaua‘i Keiki and High School Rodeo Association, featured 12 events with good participation throughout the day.
Tannery’s first-place finish among keiki was followed by Sierra Medeiros in second and Cheyenne Andrade in third.
The Wahine Barrels was won by Shelby Rita. Alexis Vasconcelles, Kim Medeiros, Britni Ludington-Braun and Kali Adkins placed second through fifth, respectively.
Adam Brun took top honors in Poo Wai U, with Stanley Ornellas, Tom Aiu and Bob Brun rounding out the top four, in that order.
The team of Robby Farias and Kevin Hill had the top go in Open Roping, with Chaz Rita and Randy Brun coming in second.
Hill teamed up again, this time with Ross Farias for third. Adam and Randy Brun came in fourth, with Frank Nadarisay and Ryan Fu grabbing fifth.
David Rita and Kalani Aki took the Roping title, while Rita also grabbed second, partnering with Louie Boy Matias.
Kimo Akita and Brad Like finished third, Stanley Ornellas and Corinna Vasconcelles took fourth, Russell Miranda and Pat Brun Sr., fifth, with Justin Vierra and Ryan Fu in sixth.
Kelli Carveiro and Randall Soares finished first in Mixed Roping.
Second place went to Kali Adkins and Dusty Miranda, third to Brittney Brun and Melvin Miranda, fourth to Shelby Rita and Robert Rita. Carveiro teamed with Robby Farias for fifth and Pat Brun Jr. for sixth.
In Century Roping, the duo of Stanley Ornellas and Lance Fu grabbed top honors. Adam Brun and Teddy Antipala came in second, Bob Aiu and Fu took third and Stanley Ornellas and Robert Rita finished in fourth place.
Kelli Carveiro had another first with Devin Lopes, this time in Rescue Race. They were followed by Kaleo Kaui and Kamoi Rafamonte in second, Kalani Grace and Derek Rapozo in third and Rhonda Kaui and Rafamonte in fourth.
Carveiro’s third first-place finish came with Randall Soares in Ribbon Roping. They were followed by the Bruns, Randy and Brittney, in second. Kaui and Rafamonte took third with Gabe Kuhlmann and Kristene Sugai coming in fourth.
The Double Mugging was won by Robert Rita and Ryan Waalani. Rita also has the second-place go with Braiden Malicki. Kevin Hill and Kona Wong grabbed third, with Wong also taking fourth with Ross Farias.
Britni Ludington-Braun was the first-place finisher in the Wahine Breakaway. Kristene Sugai, Alexis Vasconcelles, Rhonda Kaui and Hallie Cristobal rounded out the top five.
Rhonda Kaui grabbed first in the Mule Race, with Kalani Grace and Kona Wong coming in second and third, respectively.
