Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative wants to remind its members to stay safe and in the event of downed powerlines please don’t get near the lines, a news release states.
KIUC is planning to remain energized and provide power, if there is a problem on the line and an outage occurs, it will remain out until KIUC can check on the problem. People should assume that all downed lines are energized, stay away from the lines and call KIUC at 246-8200.
If people are leaving their homes, they should unplug their sensitive equipment (entertainment centers, computers, etc.), the release says.
