Hats off to Gini Hori, Leila Kuboyama and Nely Caberto on a great Career Day at Waimea High School, Thursday. The event was so good, even the apple pies at Yumi’s were available.
Leila said Kui Souza and his culinary arts students were busy preparing lunch for all the vendors. Between the sushi being prepared by Chef Mark Oyama’s culinary arts students at the Kaua‘i Community College and the kalua pork sweet potato gyoza being worked up by Chef Romel Begonia of the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa, who had room for more good food?
One of the nice aspects of the Waimea Career Day is all the alumni who return to encourage the students to pursue a higher education. Jayme Jacinto and her crew were even talking about KCC…is it time for an 18 and Under program so the KCC athletes can participate?
Hats off to Waimea baseball coach Michael Rita on some great baseball at the annual Menehune baseball invitational, and welcome to Kaua‘i, Dunn Muramaru and the Owls!
They had some great fans in the grandstand at Hanapepe Stadium and Uncle Louie Almadova was making it a point to meet as many of them as he could.
Next week, we do it all over with Teddy Perreira and the Menehune softball tournament.
