A preliminary investigation revealed that the bodies were that of an adult male and adult female, a county news release states.
The victims have been tentatively identified, and are pending verification. Their names will not be released until next of kin has been notified, the release says.
Detectives in the Investigative Services Bureau have initiated a homicide investigation.
No further information is available at this time, the release states.
Family members said earlier Tuesday afternoon that Kaua‘i police investigators had recovered a woman’s body and her truck on the Westside.
According to Kapa‘a family members and another friend, the woman apparently had been missing, her truck was found, then her body was found, KPD officers reportedly told them.
The Kapa‘a family members, including her father-in-law, said police told them their investigation is continuing and, when it is over, they will call his son to positively identify his wife’s body.
Names will be released pending official confirmation.
