Leah was at the opening of the Kaua‘i Soccer Association spring season, Saturday, (coach William Trugillo has another team) and was talking to Jane Garma (healthy plate lunch coming up at Syngenta Seeds).
Billy DeCosta said he went to the Waimea Town Celebration and did the Capt. Cook Caper 5K before getting to Vidinha for the soccer games.
Natasha Abadilla did the same run, but then went to the awarding of citizen awards by the National Guard’s new commander, Capt. Wesley Kawakami in Kapa‘a.
Capt. Kawakami was at his first day in his new post and hosted the Freedom Salute Ceremony for all the citizen volunteers who supported the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during its mobilization and deployment.
Mahalo to Milton Ozaki for the heads-up on that event, and kudos to people like Janis Bond, Diane Kent, Kenny Ishii (did he know the traffic going to Lihu‘e was bad?), Aida Cruz and many more.
OK, time to go check out the county’s 11 and Under league which starts tonight.
