Edwin A. “Dosha” “Ed” Duarte of Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital died Feb. 10. 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. Born on June 27, 1940, in Lihu‘e, he was a laborer and mechanic helper for the Department of Land and Natural Resources Forestry Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacintho Sr. and Odelia Duarte, and brother Ernest Duarte.
He is survived by his sisters Eleanor Almeida of Lihu‘e, Katherine (Bill) Summers of Anaheim, Calif. and Gladys Oshita of Anahola; brothers Raymond (Stella) Duarte of Puhi and Jacintho (Carol) Duarte Jr. of Kapa‘a; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 8:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 26, at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Scattering of ashes will be held privately at a later date.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
