WAIMEA— Nikki Ann Vea won four awards in the Grades 9-12 division, including the Grand Prize at the First Hawaiian Bank Paniolo Hat Lei contest which was part of the 33rd Waimea Town Celebration.
Vea’s creation utilizing natural seeds and incorporating colorful plastic beads earned the grand prize in the Grade 9-12 division. Additionally, Vea took first and third places in the Most Beautiful and second place in the Unique category of the division.
Kaulana Kahalekomo took second in the Most Beautiful and first and third in the Unique category of that division.
A total of 35 winners emerged from the field of 73 entries which were displayed at the West Kaua‘i Visitor Center throughout the celebration.
