Hats off to Ike Cockett, Chef Rafael Camarillo, Myron Lindsey, Harvey Maeda, Barbara Gusman and everyone involved in the Back to the ’50s and ’60s event at the Aston Kaua‘i Beach at Maka‘iwa.
Kenny Ishii said he got an e-mail from Mainland Kevin (he sent a photo of a ‘Watdat’ fan from the Super Bowl… is dat fan a Kauaian?) who was missing the event and wanted a shot of Maeda’s ’57 Corvette.
Ike said the weekend has been crazy… there was almost no room to walk in the lobby during the Zonta Club Eat Dessert First event (Melinda Uohara and Katie Beer were climbing coconut trees, Saturday morning, to take down the banners), Friday, and Barbara said they have a Valentine’s Day wedding, but the Champagne Brunch returns this Sunday.
Bobby Barros (drag racing returns Feb. 27 in Mana) has more than race cars since he had a vintage car in the drive-around, and Kerri Villa didn’t have her El Camino there since she was busy taking pictures.
Alan Hiranaka was tooling his hot rod from Puhi to the Waipouli gathering and Richard Aki had his hot rod golf cart on display. Great job to all!
