HONOLULU — The state is reminding Kaua‘i residents of the scheduled closure of state offices in the Lihu‘e State Office Building (Lihu‘e Civic Center) and other state facilities on designated Fridays due to the furlough of employees in the executive branch to reduce costs under the current fiscal circumstances, a news release states.
The Lihu‘e State Office Building, Lihu‘e Health Office and Annex, Plant Industry Facility, Vector Control Building, Department of Accounting and General Services Building and DAGS Baseyard are closed on the following days due to employee furloughs: Feb. 12, March 5, March 12, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, June 18, June 25.
The Lihu‘e offices of the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Services and Attorney General’s Office will be open on Friday and will be closed on Feb. 26. The University of Hawai‘i College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources Extension Services Office does not follow the above schedule.
The above schedule reflects the remainder of fiscal year 2010. The furlough schedule for fiscal year 2011, which begins on July 1, will be released at a later date.
In addition, the State Office Building and all other State offices are closed on the following state and federal holidays: Feb. 15, Presidents’ Day; March 26, Kuhio Day; April 2, Good Friday; May 31, Memorial Day; June 11, Kamehameha Day; July 5, Independence Day (observed); Aug. 20, Statehood Day; Sept. 6, Labor Day; Nov. 2, General Election Day; Nov. 11, Veterans Day; Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Day; Dec. 24, Christmas (observed); Dec. 31, New Year’s (observed).

Members of the public who conduct business with the state should call the appropriate office or check their websites for specific furlough information.
