KILAUEA — The undefeated Papalina-Gray and Hanakila battled to a 27-27 stalemate following overtime, Saturday.
That game featuring the undefeated boys from Kalaheo and the Kilauea home boys was declared a draw because the county’s 13 and Under boys basketball league allows for one overtime following a tie at the end of regulation.
Karen Matsumoto, one of the league officials, said both teams could not score in overtime and a tie was declared.
Papalina-Blue, earlier in the morning went to a 49-33 win over the Kaua‘i Ballers, led in part by Kalawai‘a Judd netting 11 points. Chavis Garma paced the blueshirts’ win on a game-high 15 points, including three-balls in the third and fifth periods.
Overall, Papalina-Blue launched treys from Garma, Noah Sasil and Curren Dillberg.
Fresno Masaniai, the strong playmaker for the Kaua‘i Ballers, led the effort with 11 points followed by Tyler Fernandez adding nine points and Junard Mata ending the day on eight points.
Marlon Cudiamat finished with a game-high 20 points of Hanakila’s 27-point total. Austin Salvador and Peterson Lahip led the Papalina-Gray with 11 and eight points, respectively.
Papalina-Blue next tangles with Ho‘ouila, Monday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center in the 7 p.m. game. Westside opens the evening by matching up with the Wailua Boyz starting at 6 p.m.
