Kapa‘a swim coach Kara Kitamura said KIF swimming should get very interesting real soon because a lot of the swimmers also play soccer and with soccer winding down, the players will flock to the pools. Kara opted to watch her “baby” Anuhea Panui at Thursday’s game, but was at practice as well since her swimmers were on the cell phone (at least they’re not driving).
Similarly, Kaua‘i paddling coach Lori Parraga (she was at Tuesday night’s basketball game) was trying to watch the game while contemplating steerspeople for today’s regatta.
It’s good to see the KIF coaches and student athletes mix community with their own programs. Julynne Ramos and Nicky (not Mickey) Banasihan were on hand to watch the first game of the Kaulupono 13s, and Cassandra Owen was on hand to watch the Westside.
In the meantime, after listening to Paul Ito, Linda Smith and Brent Mizutani, go sign up for the KIF fundraising golf tournament Apr. 11. There should be some really good prizes available, and the forms at Puakea Golf Course, now. Brent is working so it’s not always skill that gets the good prizes…should be a lot of fun, and helps the KIF at the same time.
Happy birthday to the county engineer, Donald Fujimoto (will he be KIF golfing?) and his twin brother, Dr. Ronald Fujimoto!
