LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i’s T.J. Kua, of Lihu‘e, shot an opening-round 69 to finish Thursday at 1-under par at the Sony Open, his first PGA Tour event.
It was an up-and-down round with Kua coming away with five birdies and four bogeys, but never moving more than one shot away from even par.
His score puts him in a tie for 32nd place, as six players hold the first round lead at 5-under par. Among that group is defending champion Zach Johnson.
With the schedule reversing, Kua will tee off at 8:50 a.m. this morning.
