LIHU‘E — On Day 2 of the Outrigger Hotels Volleyball Invitational at the Stan Sheriff Center, No. 1 USC defeated Ohio State 3-1 in the day’s first match.
The Trojans won the match by a 20-30, 30-28, 30-25, 30-14 score, getting 12 kills from Troy Murphy.
Ohio State had the more dominant offensive players, with Shawn Sangrey and John Klanac coming away with 19 and 14 kills, respectively.
But USC moved to 2-0 in the competition with the win, while Ohio State now sits at 0-2.
In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Hawai‘i took on Penn State in a match that went to five sets. Final results of the match were unavailable as of press time.
Today is the final day of competition, with Ohio State playing Penn State in a Big Ten showdown at 4 p.m., followed by Hawai‘i taking on top-ranked USC in the event’s final match, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
