Gloria Jane Puanani (Albarado) Malama of Lawa‘i died Jan. 1, 2010, at Queens Medical Center at age 67.
Born on Sept. 19, 1942, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a homemaker and worked at Waiohai Hotel and Waimea High School Bowling.
She was preceded in death by her son Edmund Malama Jr.; parents Vicente and Ida Albarado; brother Walter Albarado; sister Gladys Yaris; and hanai son Delbert Albarado.
She is survived by her husband Edmund Malama Sr.; granddaughter Roslyn (Jesse) Cummings; grandson Brandon (Karen) Malama; daughter-in-law Darlene Rita-Hooper; brothers Roland (Lorraine) Albarado of Honolulu, Ralph Albarado of Hilo and Jerry (Ellen) Albarado of Hanapepe; sister Joyce (Danny) Tomas of Lihu‘e; hanai grandchildren Shandiin Waahila and Kaliko Waahila; great-grandchildren Jaida, Ryder, Madison, Hunter and Maddox Cummings; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, service from noon to 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel.
Cremation to follow.
Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Henry Kupihea
Henry Mona Kupihea of Buena Park, Calif., died Dec. 17, 2009, at age 55. Born on Oct. 21, 1954, in O‘ahu, he had a passion for singing and playing Hawaiian music.
He was preceded in death by his parents Solomon and Hattie Margaret Kupihea; sisters Martha Whitter, Piilani Bright, Malu Fernandez, Rachel Akiyama, Grace Fitzgerald, Nani Shimabukuro and Dorothy Goo; brothers Solomon Kupihea Jr., Henry Kupihea, Roy Kupihea and George Kupihea.
He is survived by his sisters Kelani (Bruce) Torres of Iowa, Mary (Edwin) Maunakea of Texas, Elaine Watson of Kaua‘i, Deborah (Jack) Muff of Florida and Yolanda (Patrick) Rosa of Lihu‘e; brother Wallace (Linda) Kupihea of Kaua‘i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in California. A memorial celebration potluck will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Jan. 9, at Anahola Club House.
Terrence Travaso
Terrence “Terry” Travaso died Dec. 25, 2009. He was born on Aug. 16, 1957, in Lihu‘e.
He is survived by his sons Brandon and E‘kahi; daughter Teren; parents Joe “Pancho” and Mitzi Travaso; brothers Timothy and Thomas; sister Tammy Martin; uncle Donald Travaso and Aunt Geraldine Duarte.
Viewing from 9 to 10 a.m., Mass to follow, on Jan. 13, at Immaculate Conception Church.
