Coach Orlando Anaya (he’ll be at Saturday’s swim meet) is happy to be able to practice back at the Kaua‘i High School pool. He was enjoying practice Tuesday night when Kaua‘i girls basketball hosted Kapa‘a in the KIF season opener. And of course, Santa (aka Leonard Vegas) was there with a Spam musubi.
Ross Shimabukuro was able to get Jonel Tafiti to cook up Joe Grace roast pork not only for the food booth, but all the players after the game. The corn sure smelled good and it was a change of pace to see some brown gravy instead of the red spaghetti sauce.
Marlo Louis Medeiros was doing a great job manning the ticket table/gate (don’t forget the KIF pass the next time) since her daughter Kawehi was on the varsity game. Congratulations to both JV coaches for doing a great job with both teams…and since someone has to win, hats off to coach Sandi Nadatani on the honor (coach Bobbie Kamakelei came to see how former Kaulupono Girl Casey Anacleto was going to do in red).
OK, this is the big test for the KIF — How many of the five events can be covered in a single day? Stay tuned.
