NAWILIWILI — Kelvin Moniz, Kaua‘i Food Bank Operations Manager, and Judy Lenthall, Kaua‘i Food Bank director, took a welcome break out of the holiday frenzy, Monday.
Kirk Nakamoto, Bank of Hawai‘i vice president and Kaua‘i district sales manager, presented the food bank with a contribution of $5,000, the KFB share of a statewide $50,000 presentation by Bank of Hawai‘i.
Bank of Hawai‘i will present $50,000 in contributions to five organizations which help needy families in Hawai‘i and the West Pacific, states a BOH release of the announcement.
The Salvation Army (Hawai‘i and Pacific Islands Division) will receive $25,000, the Hawai‘i Foodbank will receive $10,000. Maui Food Bank, Kaua‘i Food Bank and The Food Basket on the Big Island will each receive $5,000.
“With the current economic challenges, we know that many people are experiencing hard times,” said Al Landon, chairman and CEO of BOH. “We are making these donations in the spirit of our island community, which helps one another whenever there’s a need — especially during the holiday season.”
In lieu of providing client holiday parties and gifts this year, the bank decided to make the $50,000 charitable donation to help needy families.
