Hats off to Robert Ancheta of the Sheraton Kaua‘i on spearheading the first Festival of Trees down there. Bidding (it ends Dec. 24) for the trees helps our local charities like the American Cancer Society, the Visitor Industry Charity Walk and the trees make really nice centerpieces. If you’re there, check out the recycleable ornaments done by the Kaua‘i High School Academy of Hospitality and Travel students.
Jarrett Chytka of the Big Kmart is excited because the parking lot has been full since they’re open until midnight, now through Christmas, and Manu Crabbe of the Lihu‘e Airport was just as excited about the inaugural flight of West Jet, Wednesday night. Sue Kanoho and George Costa had a full compliment of greeters to welcome the flight from Vancouver, Canada. And, Miss Canada (aka Bev Brody) was not going to miss an opportunity to fly on an inaugural flight — especially if it was going to Canada.
OK, time to head out to Waimea for the Lighted Parade.
