Joe Taba
Joe Taba of Kalaheo died Nov. 12, 2009, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 90. Born on April 1, 1919, he was a retired mechanic with Taba Service.
He is survived by his sons Ben (Lynette) of Kalaheo, Glen (Debbie) of Wailua and Paul of Kalaheo; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Yasuo Taba of Kalaheo; sisters Hatsuyo Kamiya of Kekaha and Shizue Tachikawa of Honolulu.
Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Hajime Masumoto
Hajime Masumoto of Kekaha died Dec. 2, 2009 at age 88. Born in Makaweli, he was a retired supervisor for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife Yoshie Masumoto of Kekaha; daughter Susan (Conrad) Nonaka of ‘Ele‘ele; grandchildren Jayme and Corey; sisters Setsuko Montgonery of Arizona, Rachel Eckenrode of Pennsylvania and Janet Ogden of California.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.
Marcelina Burkhamer
Marcelina Silva Burkhamer of Kapa‘a died Dec. 14, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 58. She was born in Madeira, Portugal, and retired as a nurse’s aid.
She is survived by her children Jeannett Martins, Jason Martins, Russell Smith and Kenneth Smith; sisters Maria (Edward) Martins, Grace (Eric) Ishida, Gilda Lima, Gloria (Teddy) Javellana; brother Antonio (Ynes) Da Silva; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
