Representatives from nine social service agencies recently joined the women of The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i and Yukie DeSilva of The Garden Island newspaper for the distribution of the 2009 Zonta/Garden Island Christmas Fund.
The community newspaper partners with The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i to make Christmas a little brighter for many of our community’s less fortunate, states a release from the Zonta Club.
The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i makes contact with the social service agencies and processes their cases while The Garden Island newspaper publishes the stories of need from Thanksgiving through Christmas to encourage tax-deductible contributions to The Christmas Fund from community members.
This year’s fund has helped almost 500 recipients from the county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs, Alu Like, Child and Family Services, Department of Health — Community Service for Developmentally Disabled, Easter Seals of Kaua‘i, Hale Kipa, Kaua‘i Adult Day Health, Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity and the YWCA.
The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i asks donors to be generous to the Christmas Fund as funds will support the 2010 Zonta/Garden Island Christmas Fund.
Checks should be written to The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i Foundation.
