LIHU‘E — Allan R. Landon, Bank of Hawai‘i board chairman and chief executive officer, will discuss the banking industry’s “turmoil,” impacts on citizens, and looking beyond the turmoil.
He is the keynote speaker at the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce annual general membership meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. today at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club in Nawiliwili.
The chamber’s 21st annual silent auction takes place at the meeting as well, with over 50 companies donating items, according to a chamber press release.
The platinum sponsor for this year’s meeting is Bank of Hawai‘i. As part of that sponsorship, Bank of Hawai‘i is providing each attendee with a complimentary Hawaiian CD, “Gift of Island Music,” featuring Israel Kamakawiwo‘ole, Raiatea Helm, Teresa Bright and John Cruz.
Landon has been with the bank since 2000, and held various positions including president, chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and director of risk management.
He serves on the board of Hawai‘i Business Roundtable, as treasurer, and is a member of The Chamber of Commerce of Hawai‘i Military Affairs Council.
Landon recently completed a term as chairman of the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents. He also served on the boards of The Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i and Hawai‘i Medical Service Association, where he was chairman.
Prior to joining the Bank of Hawai‘i, Landon served as chief financial officer of First American Corporation in Nashville, Tenn., now part of Regions Financial Corporation.
As part of the evenings’ events, a new member orientation session followed by a new member spotlight will take place prior to the doors opening.
Also prior to the start of the meeting, the approximately 250 expected attendees will have an opportunity to network with other members during the no-host cocktail reception.
