Hats off to Gilbert Cabot and the Boy Scouts of Troop 83 who were at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery early Wednesday to help put up the American flags at the graves. Alan Yamamoto said there are only four Scouts left in the troop and three of them — Kai Adachi, Matthew Simpkins and Kevin Ikeda — were at the cemetery for Veterans Day.
Glenn Taba was there as he’s been for many years and had his grandson Kelson Taba who said he’s only 5 years old so they don’t have a uniform for him.
Hats off to Ed Kawamura, Bill Honjiyo and all the Kaua‘i Veterans Council members on a great service. Kudos to James Yamamoto on doing a great job laying out the program…you might’ve gotten one in the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce or the Kaua‘i Marriott e-blast.
Hats off to Donovan Travaso and his crew at the cemetery for doing a great job! Even Kaua‘i County Council Chair Bill “Kaipo” Asing noticed how great everything looked, and concurred with Mel Rapozo who never misses these veteran events.
Kudos, too, to Major Victor Aguilar and the Waimea High School Jr. ROTC for stepping up to the plate with the color guard, saber unit and buglers.
