Mahalo to Jay Watanabe for the sweet dried ume! It hit the spot in all that Friday night rain at the football games. Jay said he found it in Honolulu and has already got Nakulu Arquette working on adding it to his line of products — how sweet, no need go Honolulu!
Alvin Sasil, one of the Kaua‘i football coaches, was enjoying the Friday night games. Kaua‘i is seeded No. 2 in the HHSAA Division II brackets and will play either Moanalua (undefeated) or Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy (we saw them in pre-season) on Nov. 27 at Vidinha Stadium.
Hats off to Robin Sanchez on another successful Veterans Day parade (where was Kenny Ishii?), Saturday. Bobby Kubota and his ‘ohana are always strong supporters and had his whole Pono Market crew out on the sidewalk and Joe Olivas didn’t have time to take photos since he said he was marching, Saturday.
More kudos to Chris Takenaka on doing such a good job emcee-ing the program. Chris got help from Bill Honjiyo on stage and nobody will forget “Kaua‘i Boy” Brigadier General Irwin Cockett Jr.
Congratulations to Natasha Abadilla who was crowned Miss Veteran, Saturday. She was the top Kaua‘i girl runner to finish in the state cross country meet, and between track and cross country, I forgot she plays soccer too (Hilo comes to play this weekend).
