LIHU‘E — The Department of Water announced that William “Bill” Eddy has been appointed deputy manager-engineer effective Nov. 2.
Eddy joined the Water Department in 1996 as a civil engineer V, after working for the Department of Public Works for three years as a civil engineer III and IV, a county news release said Friday.
For the past two years, Eddy has led the operations division as acting chief of operations. Prior to that, he spent seven years learning the ropes as the assistant chief of operations.
“With Bill’s years of experience and knowledge of the needs of our water systems, I feel that he will be instrumental in helping to lead the department in moving our Water Plan 2020 priority projects forward,” said David Craddick, manager and chief engineer of the Department of Water.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in my new position and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead,” said Eddy.
Eddy began his career as a civil engineer at Techmar, Inc. in Long Beach, Calif., where he held the position of vice president and manager of engineering services for six years.
He received a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Miami and a master’s of science degree in civil engineering from California State University at Long Beach.
Eddy holds a professional engineer license and is certified as a chlorine applicator as well as a distribution system operator.
He is also a member of the American Water Works Association and Water Environment Federation.
