The Hawai‘i State Public Library System will present nationally recognized storyteller Lyn Ford; internationally-renowned storytellers Kuniko Yamamoto and Michael Parent; noted Hawai‘i storytellers Janice Terukina, Sandra MacLees and Dann Seki; and a special musical event this fall in a series of programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i and the UH-Manoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program, a news release states.
Performances by the following three storytellers are recommended for ages 5 and older:
Lyn Ford, a fourth-generation storyteller from Ohio, carries on a family tradition by sharing stories from her multi-cultural African-American heritage. Ford’s performances are always filled with rhythm, rhyme, humor and heart. Her stories will make you laugh out loud; her tales will make you think and remember.
Ford will be featured performer at 11 selected public libraries on O‘ahu, Kaua‘i and Maui:
Kaua‘i — Monday, 10:15 a.m. at Lihu‘e (4344 Hardy St.; 241-3222); Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. at Waimea (9750 Kaumualii Highway; 338-6848); Tuesday, 3 p.m. at Hanapepe (4490 Kona Rd.; 335-8418); Oct. 14, 3 p.m. at Koloa (3223 Po‘ipu Rd.; 742-8455)
