Art Umezu is really pushing on the fundraiser to help victims of the recent typhoon that swept through the Philippines. Art will be joining Liza Trinidad, Oscar Portugal and other leaders of the Kaua‘i Filipino Community Council and the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce at The Jam Room at Kukui Grove Center, today from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kukui Grove is the place to be since Tiffany Dodge and the Aloha Dance Studio opened the first Freaky Friday. Doors to the weekly event open from 5 p.m. on each Friday through Halloween.
On Halloween, Sharon Gibson of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club (Mike’s Drive-In in Oregon has the best burgers!) said they’ll be having the annual Halloween race and party. Check out the NYC Web site for more details.
This is only Oct. 1 and people are already talking about Halloween. Kelvin Moniz (he was head referee at Wednesday’s American Youth Football) has the Kaua‘i Food Bank big food collection day coming up.
Bob Bartolo (coconut bowling anyone?) and Kenny Ishii and all those Kapa‘a Business Association people have the Coconut Festival this weekend… go early, check out the Pop Warner games at the New Kapa‘a Town Park on the same trip.
OK, ‘nuff said. It’s time to head out to KIF cross country at Island School.
