LIHU‘E — Starting Oct. 12, the Kapahi HI-5 bottle redemption center, located on Kawaihau Road behind the Menehune Food Mart, will be adding Mondays to its schedule, according to a county press release.
The center is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center is closed for lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m.
In mid-September, the redemption center located on O‘ihana Street in Lihu‘e closed its doors.
The owner of the center, Kaua’i Community Recycling Services, is in the process of looking for another location to set up the bottle redemption center. An announcement will be made when the center is ready to reopen.
Currently, there are eight HI-5 bottle redemption centers on the island, including:
— Hanalei, located next to Waioli Park, open Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
— Kilauea, 4900 Kuawa Rd., next to the Malama Kaua‘i office, old Guava Kai, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
— Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i Resource Center, 3460 Ahukini Rd., Monday to Saturday except on Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Closed for lunch 11 to 11:45 a.m.
— Nawiliwili Harbor, corner of Wilcox and Kanoa streets, next to the old Hale Kaua‘i, Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed for lunch noon to 1:30 p.m.
— Koloa, 2810 Po‘ipu Rd., next to Koloa fire station, Thursday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
— Lawa‘i, 02-3687 Kaumuali‘i Hwy., next to Lawa‘i post office, Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
— Kekaha, Kekaha Landfill, Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
