Charlie Okamoto was waiting for the parade since Kapa‘a won a football game, Friday night.
But, even without the parade, he and Nellie were enjoying the Po‘ipu Kai tennis courts where son Chaz (he wasn’t at KIF cross country) was participating in the Kaua‘i Junior Tennis Fall Classic.
Congratulations to Carolyn Lum on hosting such a big event — almost as big as high school state competition. Carolyn said she was shopping at Safeway, Friday night and was getting all the samples, not realizing Friday was a preview night for the grand re-opening, Saturday morning.
Congratulations to Gary Mizuuchi, Lesah Merritt, Annette Palacio and all the Waipouli Safeway associates on a great-looking store.
Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was at the football game Friday and still got up early to make the Safeway ceremonies and then to the 2009 Memory Walk (great job, Jill Ramsey and Cheryl Farrell).
Teddy Arroyo (he was volunteering with Kaua‘i Habitat) said his wife was at the Memory Walk as was George Costa and the county’s Elderly Affairs group.
More kudos to Theresa Koki and her anti-drug office ‘ohana on a great job with the health and wellness fair, Friday.
